Ages: 11 - 16
Ages 11-16
Musical: The Addams Family
This summer at the Evergreen Players Drama Camp, middle and high school performers will step into the wonderfully weird world of The Addams Family—a story that celebrates individuality, humor, and the joy of being unapologetically yourself.
The class will be taught by Cortez Daniel, co-founder of Tones Collective, educator, musician, and long-time champion of youth arts programs. Cortez brings a joy-centered teaching philosophy that encourages students to bring their full selves into the creative process.
Throughout the camp, students will explore how joy fuels character work, how authentic expression can elevate both comedy and storytelling on stage.
We’ll focus on...
- Character Ownership: Helping students find personal connections that deepen their performances.
- Joyful Discovery: Using movement, improvisation, and reflection to unlock creativity.
- Collaborative Ensemble Building: Strengthening trust, confidence, and risk-taking within the group.
- Performance Craft: Developing acting, vocal, and physical storytelling skills inspired by the musical’s iconic characters.
By the end of camp, students will not only present polished scenes and musical moments from The Addams Family—they will also leave with a stronger sense of themselves, empowered to bring joy, boldness, and authenticity to every stage they step on.
